OCOchem, AirCapture and the University of Alabama Publish first integrated Direct Air Capture and Conversion FEED study

What if we could pull CO₂ straight from the air and turn it into a valuable chemical, without fossil inputs? OCOchem and Aircapture collaborated with The University of Alabama on a newly published study in RSC Sustainability that demonstrates exactly that.

Together, we developed and analyzed a DAC-integrated electrochemical process to produce formic acid (FA) from atmospheric CO₂. The method uses renewable electricity and industrial waste heat, offering a scalable, low-carbon alternative to traditional fossil-based FA production.

It’s a real-world pathway for CO₂ utilization with serious deployment potential, and we’re honored to help drive it forward. Read the full paper at https://pubs.rsc.org/en/content/articlelanding/2025/su/d5su00111k.
